Welcome to LISAP – Livingstonia Synod Aids Program

LISAP is a Faith Based Organisation under the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia. The CCAP Synod of Livingstonia has its catchment area in northern Malawi and has a total of 25 Presbyteries of at least 6 congregations each in which LISAP operates. LISAP was established in 1994 by the Synod Assembly as an independent HIV & AIDS department in response to HIV and AIDS epidemic.

This was intended to ensure that HIV and AIDS activities would be better coordinated and eventually scaled up to all presbyteries and congregations within the synod catchment areas. LISAP operates in five of the six northern region districts including Nkhotakota north and Kasungu north in the central region.

LISAP implements its activities following the National Action framework as well as its own strategic plan called ‘Growing Community Impact’ which emphasises on community empowerment and intervention sustainability. LISAP operates through three zones as follows; Northern Zone which is based in Karonga and caters for Chitipa and Karonga districts; Central Zone based at Ekwendeni and caters for Rumphi, Mzimba north, Nkhata Bay and Nkhotakota north districts and Southern zone which is based in Mzimba and caters for Mzimba South and Kasungu north districts. The main offices are at Ekwendeni. LISAP has a total of 38 staff working in all these areas and has at least 4000 volunteers.
